The Emily’s Hope Substance Use Curriculum has successfully launched its pilot program, and the results are promising. With our comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum, we’re committed to empowering students to make informed choices about substance use and addiction prevention. The pilot program provided valuable insights and feedback, allowing us to further refine and optimize the curriculum for a more significant impact on students’ lives.

About the Pilot Program:

The Emily’s Hope pilot program was designed to test the efficacy and accessibility of our substance use prevention curriculum in real classroom settings. Teachers and students in participating schools were given access to the curriculum, which covers grades K-5 and focuses on age-appropriate education about the body, brain, emotions, pressures, medication safety, and Substance Use Disorder.

The program offered digital or printable lesson plans, animated videos, a song, a book, and the ability to quickly add lesson materials to Google Classroom. The pilot program also provided a glimpse into the interactive version of the book, which is currently in development.

Positive Feedback and Improvements:

The feedback we received from the pilot program was overwhelmingly positive. Teachers appreciated the engaging and relevant content, while students showed an increased understanding of the topics covered in the curriculum. The program also highlighted areas where we could make improvements to better serve our target audience.

Feedback from teachers/counselors who taught our third grade substance use prevention curriculum

Based on the feedback received, we made enhancements to the curriculum and added new features. These include refining the lesson plans and resources, incorporating more interactive elements, and developing additional content for grades 6-12.

Moving Forward:

We’re excited to continue our mission of providing students with the knowledge and tools they need to make healthy choices and combat substance abuse. As we move forward, we remain committed to improving and expanding our curriculum to reach even more students.

With the support of donors, Emily’s Hope is currently offering the curriculum free for schools, ensuring that vital substance use prevention education is accessible to all. As we work on developing content for grades 6-12, we encourage educators, school administrators, and parents to sign up for the Teacher Hub and access the curriculum resources.

Conclusion:

The successful pilot program of Emily’s Hope Substance Use Prevention Curriculum marks the beginning of our journey to create a lasting impact on students’ lives. We’re grateful for the support of our donors, committee members, and participating schools in this critical mission. Together, we can make a difference and create a safer, healthier future for our children.
